It was a long week(end). While I only had to work two days last week, B+S played three shows in a row. Thursday in Dallas and Fri/Sat here in Austin. I have to say, I'm not looking forward to going out on tour in July. It suppose my attitude wasn't helped by the a/c barely working in the van. Tired. Of. Sweat.
The shows were good, though. In Dallas we played at the Granada Theater with the Black Angels. This was the third time we've played there. Always fun if really echo-y. The Angels are super nice people. We've played with them before but I'd never really met or hung out with them.
Friday was at Emo's here in town, again with the Black Angels for their album release show. It was packed and really freaking hot. It's a strange thing to play for such a large crowd that isn't really there to see you. It wasn't nearly as bad as the Trail of Dead/Blood Brothers crowd but still weird. They seemed kinda pleasantly indifferent to us.
Saturday we played at the Continental Club here in town. There's always a good enthusiastic crowd there. I thought I played terribly and wanted nothing more than to get off stage as quick as I could. Of course no one could tell but I was freaking out. The intonation on my bass was out of whack and I, of course, left my tuner at Emo's the night before. I never relaxed and spent to whole set futzing with my tuning by ear. Blech. I really just wanted to get out of there. Instead I drank whiskey shots and tried to have fun. It didn't really work. Eh.
