"My experience (which can’t be unique) is that some books end up accumulating out of a misguided attempt to win the approval of authors already well-entrenched on my shelves."
I kinda see it as a family tree. This book begat this book that begat this other book. You read one thing and have to follow it up but it often splits off and then there is the problem of where to put all the bastards that aren't a part of the family proper.
Also, thanks to Choo and Capt Morgan for helping me fill my jeep up to the brim with all of my books. It wasn't fun, I know.

No problem.
I prune books as much as I can, but it's getting harder with grad books. I'm going to break my back next time I move.
I'm trying but I seem to just buy more to make up for the ones I get rid of!
PS: My bookshelves bring all the boys to the yard, etc.
