I finished Anathem yesterday. It definitely one of those books that consumed me there for a bit. When I read it before bed, my dreams would draw on it. Much of my waking time, I just wanted to get back to reading it. At times it felt (sorry about this) Randian in that parts of the story seemed to be excuses for philosophical exposition but that's selling it short. The long expositional passages were part and parcel of the story, too, because that was the world these characters lived in. Now I'm starting over again on the Baroque Cycle so I'll have something to work through on tour. I figure it's been a couple of years since I read them, so there's bound to be a lot that I forgot. I just hope that it doesn't hurt my wrists too much to read these frog-squashers (as my high school govt teacher used to say) in the van.
