part the third
Looking back to whiny Thursday self, I wanna punch him in the neck. Saturday was chock full of good ole fashioned funness. Started at the Bust party which the Craft Mafia girls were helping to put on. Watched Grand Ole’ Party which I was a bit ambivalent about except the that girl drummer/singer used one of those Garth Brooks puff ball mics that strap to your head. I liked that. Elija Wood was djing. Then hoofed it down to Waterloo Park for Mess With Texas 2. Managed to fanagle a VIP wristband which entitled me to free water, shorter port-a-potty line, $3 tecate and standing around next to Brian Posehn. Watched The Night Marchers, Jay Reatard (again), Atlas Sound (again), F*cked Up (w/Keith Morris of Circle Jerks), Black Mountain and No Age (again). Well done Transmission Ent!
Our showcase was later that night. Played a short set but good (I think). Will has the flu and wasn’t up to playing more than that. Tried the Vice party but (shockingly!) I wasn’t on the list despite rsvp-ing twice on two dif emails. Went and met the non-flu having band members over at the moon tower thing we played the other night. Free drinks and we still had access to the VIP room from when we played. Much craziness ensued. Saw the Mint Chicks, Crystal Castles and Z-Trip. Z-Trip came on at a bit after 4am and everyone wanted to leave. I convinced them to stay for a bit and sure enough an hour later we were there dancing in a big guido-filled crowd. My one celeb moment wasn’t much of one. but this guy was helping Lily make a drink in the green room and we were chatting a bit when I realized he was the guy from Firefly, Alan Tudyk (whose name I never knew to I just looked it up). He seemed nice enough. He was chatting up some fake-boob girl all night.
